Summary
This executive position will oversee and manage the execution of daily business operations including inventory, order fulfillment, processing, personnel and multiple work shifts. The VP of Operations will develop and execute the operational component of Stavis’ strategic plan for future growth and be directly involved in the development and execution of facility upgrades and information management systems.
Responsibilities
The VP of Operations is responsible for operations efficiency as well as:
- Maintain physical plants as economically and efficiently as possible
- Review and approve plant expenses, manpower and facility requirements
- Ensure accurate inventory and product integrity of all seafood received and sold
- Optimize order fulfillment accuracy and customer service
- Maximize efficiency in cost of distribution including outside cold storage and transportation
- Reduce processing costs utilizing technology, outsourcing and global outreach
- Ensure that duties, responsibilities, authority and accountability of all Operations Personnel are defined and understood
- Identify training needs, initiate development of Operations Team and recommend effective personnel action
- Develop specific short-term and long–term plans and programs
- Direct, monitor and appraise the performance of Operation departments.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other departments in establishing and carrying out responsibilities and to maintain open communication with all departments
- Create and adhere to a yearly Operations Budget
- Develop and manage an Operational strategic plan along with supporting policies and procedures that are in alignment with company’s strategic plan.
Requirements
- Even tempered and customer service oriented
- Sound administrative skills and well-developed management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to recruit, train and motivate personnel in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth
- Able to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
- College degree or equivalency
- Minimum 10 years in seafood/or perishable distribution
- HACCP certified a plus
- ERP software and management experience preferred
- Experience in seafood or perishable industry
