Summary:

Working with operations and purchasing, the QA Director is responsible for defining and upholding quality standards for all Stavis’ seafood.  The director develops and maintains specific product specifications for all processed and branded items.  This individual will arrange, implement an ensure compliance of our product specifications program which will include spot checks and regular inspection of inbound, outbound and product in storage.  The director will also review any customer specific specifications and provide oversight to ensure that the product complies with those specifications.  Additional areas of oversight responsibility include regular communication with all Stavis divisions, daily plant sanitation & product inspections.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create product specifications for Stavis and Stavis’ customers
  • Oversee the inspection program for inbound fresh and frozen seafood
  • Ensure that all Stavis’ processed goods are compliant with specifications
  • Develop ways to improve Stavis’ processing through testing & yield analysis
  • Assist buyers with product development
  • Develop procedures/methodology for testing product in Stavis’ in house lab
  • Inform Inventory Managers/Buyers of any product discrepancies or issues
  • Oversee daily fresh seafood quality evaluations
  • Be up-to-date of all seafood regulatory and FDA issues
  • Perform duties per Stavis HACCP procedures and SSOPs

 

Requirements:

  • HACCP Certified
  • Degree in Food Science or related field
  • Seafood and/or perishables experience
  • Strong computer and communication skills - proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
