Name: Ocean Perch
Latin Name: Sebastes marinus

Harvest Area: Newfoundland to Massachusetts and Iceland.

Seasons: Available year round.

Characteristics: Bright red skin, very slow-growing fish. Caught in very deep waters. Resembles the Pacific Rockfish in appearance.

Grade/Pack: Usual size - up to 8 lbs.Almost always sold as skin on boneless fillets. Fresh and frozen - skin on cellos, layerpack and IQF fillets.  

Traditional Applications: A leading retail seafood product in the Midwest U.S.A. - Fresh and frozen in fillets and value added as fish sticks.
